部落風肚皮舞蹈受部落的遷移、宗教、政治等等背景的影響很大，以強調其舞蹈的精神內涵，頗具美學、歷史和哲學的文化藝術層次，它之所以有別於其他的肚皮舞，在於部落風肚皮舞舞者似乎不在意觀眾的喜好或是娛樂效果，不會有很多的shimmy動作，也沒有刻意誇張舞蹈設計動作，而是憑感覺即興而跳舞。任何與性感、嫵媚、華麗相關的詞彙都是不適合他們的，因此他們在演出的時候，經常表情酷酷的，絕對不會媚惑地對著觀眾微笑。
部落風肚皮舞的服飾：最大的區別在於舞者不太追求其他肚皮舞服飾的華麗，喜歡就地取材，來源於大自然最樸實的棉布、自然纖維、麻繩、貝殼、羽毛、刺繡等，都可以被加入服裝裡，進行混合搭配成多層次裝飾的奇特服飾，有時也會利用頭巾、頭花、硬幣、響鈴、大塊項鍊、鐲子和其它誇張的首飾，甚至還有面部描繪的圖騰，都可能成為她們的表演裝扮。部落風肚皮舞主要是想真實而自然地呈現部落生活，崇尚一種原始簡約時尚舞蹈藝術美學。
