在網路攻擊的方法中，有一種最為普遍的攻擊是DDoS（Distributed Denial of Service），又被稱為分散式阻斷服務攻擊，發動DDoS攻擊後，被攻擊的對象不能及時提供應有的服務；一個最常見的模式是，攻擊者用大量的網路封包癱瘓被攻擊者的網路或主機，使得正常的使用者無法獲得主機及時的服務。
舉一個簡單的例子，好比你開了一家餐廳，其中有一位顧客，他帶了一堆朋友到你的餐廳，霸佔了所有的餐桌，也不點菜，如此一來你的餐廳所提供的服務就被這位顧客給癱瘓了。
以上的例子套用在網路層面上，網站的主機（伺服器）就是你的餐廳，而主機的硬體效能和容量就是餐廳的空間大小。
DDoS攻擊展開後，餐廳就是被攻擊的對象，攻擊者就是這位顧客，他與同伴們佔據所有餐桌，使得其他想點餐的顧客無法順利點餐，也無法享受您提供的服務。

After a DDoS attack occurs, the attacked object cannot provide due services in time; one of the most common patterns is , the attacker paralyzes the attacker's network or host with a large number of network packets, so that normal users cannot obtain timely services from the host.

For example, if you open a restaurant, the host (server) of the website is your restaurant, and the size of the restaurant is the hardware performance and capacity of the host. There is a customer who brought a bunch of friends into your restaurant, occupying all the tables and not ordering, so the service provided by your restaurant is paralyzed by this customer.
In this example, the restaurant is the target of the attack, and the attacker is the customer, who occupies all the tables, making it impossible for normal customers to order.
